How Companies Structure AR Financing
Accounts receivable financing is sized to your ledger, not to a single invoice. These are the three structures IFXI writes, and what each one asks of your reporting.
Distributors & manufacturers
Full Ledger AR Facility
Your whole receivables book backs a revolving facility that grows as sales grow. You draw what you need instead of selling invoice by invoice.
Typical AR balance$500,000 – $5,000,000
Customer termsNet-30 to Net-60
Advance rate85% – 90% of eligible AR
Estimated fee1% – 1.75% per 30 days
ReportingMonthly aging and borrowing base certificate
What you submit
✓ Detailed AR aging with customer concentration
✓ Accounts payable aging for the same period
✓ Year-end financials and interim statements
✓ UCC search results and any lender payoff letters
What reduces availability: invoices over 90 days, intercompany billing and credit balances drop out of the eligible base before the advance is calculated.
Companies with one or two large accounts
Selective Customer Financing
You finance only the receivables of your slowest-paying customers and keep the rest of the ledger with your bank or collect it yourself.
Typical financed balance$100,000 – $750,000
Customer termsNet-60 to Net-90
Advance rate80% – 88%
Estimated fee1.75% – 2.5% per 30 days
ReportingPer-customer aging, no full ledger required
What you submit
✓ Aging limited to the customers being financed
✓ Master agreements or supply contracts with those accounts
✓ Twelve months of payment history for each one
✓ Intercreditor consent if a bank holds a blanket lien
What delays funding: an existing bank lien over all assets. Your bank must sign an intercreditor agreement carving out the financed receivables before anything funds.
Seasonal & high-growth businesses
Seasonal Ramp Facility
Your receivables triple in the busy quarter and shrink after. The facility is sized to peak season so working capital does not cap how much you can ship.
Peak AR balance$250,000 – $3,000,000
Active months3 – 6 per year
Advance rate85% – 92% in season
Estimated fee1.25% – 2% per 30 days
Off-season costNo minimums when the line is unused
What you submit
✓ Two years of monthly sales showing the seasonal curve
✓ Current purchase orders or contracted volume for the season
✓ AR aging from last peak and last trough
✓ Inventory position if goods ship before billing
What to plan for: facility sizing takes a week and should be done before your season starts. Applying mid-peak means the review happens while you are already short.
If your receivables sit behind progress billing, insurance claims or international buyers, those are assessed differently. Note the billing type in the quote form above and a specialist will route it.
